Provisions on reviewing

The "Casting Processes" journal uses double anonymous peer review to guarantee objectivity, impartiality and adherence to high academic standards of publication. Authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.

Authors submit their manuscripts to the editorial office. The received date is the day the editorial office receives a correctly formatted manuscript that meets the journal's requirements. This date is recorded in the article's metadata and indicated in the final publication.
After that, the manuscript is evaluated by the Editor-in-chief for compliance with the journal's topic and design requirements and undergoes anti-plagiarism check in the StrikePlagiarism system. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic quality and ethics criteria may be rejected without being sent for review within 5 working days.

If no violations are found, the manuscript is sent for initial evaluation to a member of the editorial board who is an expert in the issues to which the manuscript is devoted. The Editor-in-chief and the member of the editorial board to whom the work was submitted for initial evaluation remove all identifying information from the file and send the manuscript to the reviewers.

The Editor-in-chief or his deputy selects at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers receive an anonymized file of the manuscript.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the criteria of scientific validity and reliability of the results, methodology, originality and novelty, structure, style and quality of presentation, and correctness of references and citations.

Reviewers are expected to provide their review within 2–3 weeks after receiving the manuscript. If a reviewer cannot meet this deadline, they must immediately notify the editorial office. The deadline may then be extended to 4 weeks or another reviewer may be appointed.

Review provide general conclusion on the quality of the manuscript, comments and suggestions, clear recommendation: accept without changes, accept with revisions, or reject.

If changes are needed, authors receive anonymous comments and deadlines for revision - 1-3 weeks (depending on the volume of comments). They must provide a response to the comments and send a revised version of the manuscript with a cover letter containing comments on the reviewers' comments.

After that, the Editor-in-chief or his deputy evaluates the revised manuscript and makes a decision on accepting the article, re-reviewing it, or rejecting it. The corresponding decision is communicated to the authors.

After the manuscript is accepted for publication, the acceptance date is recorded. It is indicated in the article's metadata and in the final publication together with the received date.

Double anonymous review guarantees objectivity, minimizes bias, and increases confidence in the research results. The journal adheres to the ethical guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) in the field of peer review.
